Our blown glass ornaments are special. These glass Christmas ornaments are made the same way they have been produced for over 100 years. Our Christmas tree ornaments are made one at a time.  They are all hand painted, many in multiple stages, and decorated with loving care. The same careful attention is given to each and every product. Many of these European artisans are descendants of glassblowers from previous generations.

First a mold is designed.  A sketch of the glass ornament is drawn.  Then a clay model is made. From this 3D pattern, a mold is crafted. In some cases, an antique mold dating back as many as 100 years, is chosen to be brought out for limited production. Once the mold is available, the glass blowers begin their work.  The glass blown Christmas ornaments are begun by heating the glass tubing and then blowing by mouth into the hot glass.  The heated glass is placed inside the chosen mold so that as air is blown into the tube, the ornament expands to the dimensions of the mold. The glass ornament is allowed to cool in sand for one day after the shaping. The entire inside of the glass ornament is silvered and then allowed a day and night to dry. Now the ornament is submerged in a base coat paint to provide a foundation color for the Christmas glass ornament.  Again, the blown glass ornament is allowed to dry. Then the glass ornament is individually hand painted by talented artists, one color at a time.  One Christmas glass ornament can have as many as 38 different painting steps before it is complete.  Some of the hand painted blown glass ornaments are further enhanced with glitter.
